Excavation – An Assurance to Safe Construction
Pre-preparations are essential for any kind of job that we do. While doing so, we make sure that all the required things are readied, arrangements are made, etc. Be it a small job or an important one, pre-prep always saves the day.
Well, this is a crucial part of constructions. How? We can’t just go and construct in any kind of land right! We need to first understand if the land is suitable for construction and if it is, it has to be prepared to be constructed.
How do we prepare the land for construction? Simple! The process called excavation is what needs to be done. It is the preliminary task before construction that involves the removal of soil, rock, and other unwanted materials. It involves the following process:
- The basic step is to determine the soil extent and remove the unnecessary bushes and garbage from the land.
- Then the center and excavation lines are laid or marked using lime powder and this process is termed as ground tracing.
- 2 to 4 benchmarks in the corner are marked on the permanent structures like roads, trees, etc.
- The depth of excavation is fixed based on the center lines and benchmarks.
- Excavation is done either manually or by using machinery.
- The excavated soils are then disposed of or stored in a pit for future use.
Excavation is done to create foundations to the buildings and this very fact explains the importance of this process. Being the basic and the essential process, minute mismanagement can ruin the entire building. Executing it properly is a way of securing the constructions without a doubt.
